I picked these flowers for $4, Lifeline Mona Vale.
.
Lucky enough to have seen the real Irises by Vincent van Gogh with my own eyes.
It sold for $53.90 million in 1987 to Alan Bond who did not have enough money to pay for it. Later re-sold to the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. It sits at Number 10 on the list of most expensive paintings ever sold.
.
Passed up this print for $20 because I didn’t much like the frame or the typography.
Now have Regret seeing as the glass and the image alone were worth more.
Don’t you hate that?

I love the flowers YOU picked! As for the print…I totally understand how the type would turn you off… would me too! I have always loved that Van Gogh, though. I’m always amazed at how much bigger or smaller the real things are to what we see in every day life or imagine them to be.
Your glass flowers are so pretty!
I know Stacey! I was so surprised at the size of it [Irises], especially considering the price. Later I realised I could have framed out the type on the print. Blah. Never mind. It’s not like its the only one around… Appreciate your lovely comments, as always.
i love he segue between the 4 buck flowers and van gogh. you do have a lovely eye for beautiful objects – and a fantastic turn of phrase. always enjoy your posts…the images and the text.
Well thanks heaps Edwina I am virtually blushing right now, so glad you like my blog, it really means a lot to hear that, some days I wonder what the hell I am doing so thanks. I think yours is great too, you really know your stuff. Cheers.
Love the glass flowers! I agree with you about the font on the print. I usually mat prints up to the edge of the image, and I’m sure I would have done that on the iris print.
