A collectable Carltonware chocolate chunk mug and a [secondhand] Ikea cup sit on a shelf. Which one is going to be bumped off by clumsy maniac descending a ladder and smash into pieces?
As you can see this is not a joke. Just Murphy’s Law. Whoever he was.
Symbolically occurring during the week I quit sugar. Not Sarah Wilson style. Just substituting. Like wine for chocolate. Or cheese. The water not so much…
Hope you’ve had a good break this long weekend?
Oh dear. It does seem symbolic though. I tried quitting sugar a few months ago and it was tough! I failed. 😦 I am going to try again soon though. Maybe I’ll try ‘substituting’ too. 😉
Hey Mandy. What do I know? Ironically I broke my resolve last night. I was only trying for a week and had managed it ok so thought I’d try for a second week, possibly 3 as it takes 21 days to break a habit apparently. [Hello Mr Inkomplete] Anyway my hubby came home from shops yesterday afternoon with Lindt balls [my lovely nemesis] as a small compensating [not really] gesture for a rather large solo business trip. I ate them just so I did’nt offend him. Arrhh. Anyway they were great, but I do still stand by my substitution method. Good bye sugar, hello wine and fat. Yay. Good luck x
You won’t believe it! We have 4 bags of Lindt balls in the cupboard at the moment. My hubby bought 5 (yes, one is gone) on Saturday because they were on sale (not implying your husband is a cheap skate). 😉 Yes, they are delicious! I quit sugar for 4 weeks and then i caved. I really do want to try it again. Sugar is poison.
My problem is in our new house the fridge and pantry are 3 or 4 quick steps from the lounge. Worried I sound like an alco but I find if I sip on a glass of red wine at night, I am happy enough and dont go hunting for chocolately bits. Yep sugar is a blight on the human body but I do think processed food, bread and cereal are just as bad. I read a great story about sugar ages ago, wish I kept it, it said that it used to be used as medicine! You must have noticed the difference after 4 weeks I bet?
The best things always get broken – I guess because you use them more! Jx
Hi Jade. Thanks for dropping in. The sad thing is neither was in use. Was trying to sort out my storage for a garage sale. Poor chocolate mug died a lonely life on the shelf…
