When I was a little kid it was a huge treat to eat corn-on-the-cob from its own special corncob shaped plate with those little matching skewers stuck in each end. But it was really all about the butter, which it was always served with – I’d suck those cobs dry! The rest of the time in our house it was horrible old marg.
Yes Kylie. I was a sucker for/ of corn too. Sadly no little cob holders in my house back then. But it was a real treat. Not sure why, its pretty commonplace now. Butter is definitely better, I agree. We had marg a lot though. A real seventies thing maybe?
So corny – I love it! Yup, I have a “corn set” with the dishes and holders, but usually in the flurry of a bbq (when we most often serve it) I forget to pull them out (or I just get too lazy…) 🙂
Thanks Jocelyn. I do like corniness. Was worried I was revealing too much of my inner crazy but at least on this subject you can totally get away with bad jokes.
