Pumpkin Atrocities!waechsterbach West Germany tumbler vintage toy heelvintage Minerware pineapple jug and tupperware leaves corersThis is as close to a pumpkin as I get, I’m afraid. It’s not a favourite vegetable, put mildly. Though I do like the colour combo.

Very excited about having a few days away after tonights escapades. roaming the streets with a 5 year old she devil and a crazy wizard skeleton dude with plastic nunchucks. As you do. Or as we do, now in Australia. Kids will do anything for free lollies… Scary.

So anyway cheers everyone, Happy Halloween!

PS Sorry if you can’t see the other pumpkin atrocities on this wicked Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XIX link.  A classic. Series 20 ep 4. It’s on itunes. Includes Homer in a Mad Men title sequence parody, Lisa’s Mailbu Stacey doll car turning into a Transformer [Sex-bot: where havent I been?] and Milhouse and The Grand Pumpkin [re pumpkin seeds: You roast the unborn?]

So cute.  If you need a little bright burst of golden goodness,

pick it here

I picked up this enigmatic piece at Brookvale, if the bossier other lady who hadnt gotten around to pricing it, hadnt had butted in, I might have scored for $2.50 but I paided $12. There was a very expensive frame to be considered…

Anyway I put it up in the shop immediately as it’s so dark I never thought I would want it anywhere.

So yeah, I sold the Mona Lisa or, more appropriately, a Mona Lisa for $40 pronto. Probably why I suck at the business side of things but, you know, having fun at the same time. It’s all good. As they say…

But damn!  Now wishing I had kept her guarding the shop. For forty bucks she would have been the cheapest security EVA.
As my happy customer walked the small mini puffy, did I mention puffy? like a bit silky foamy screen print, not like an oil painting, replica Mona Lisa out of my life, she promised to not put it in the bathroom which we thought would indeed be weird. [She is totally watching me!]
So anyway…Good bye ML. Hope I catch up with you, or another like you soon. Next time I’ll show more respect sister.

Happy Monday

.
Twisting your Melon?  What happened to Shaun Ryder?
He doesn’t know either…  The juice on the Happy Mondays frontman is he can’t remember a thing between 1990 and 2006. I havent read his book [pieced together from old NME stories apparently] but I loved Tony Wilson’s 24 Hour Party People [written after the movie] If you’re a Mondays/ Madchester/ Joy Division/ New Order/ Ian Curtis fan you’ll devour it for sure. Even more than the movie.

…he got a double tongue you never think he would lie…

October is Buy Nothing New Month

Buy Nothing New Month is the global movement for collective, conscientious consumption.

It’s a little idea, that started in Melbourne and is spreading to the Netherlands and USA.

It’s a one month challenge to buy nothing new (with the exception of essentials like food, hygiene and medicines)

Buy Nothing New Month isn’t Buy Nothing New Never. Nor is it about going without.

It’s literally about taking one month off to really think, “Do I really need it?” If I do, “can I get it second-hand, borrow it or rent it? What are my alternatives? Can I borrow from a friend? Can I swap with my neighbor?”

It’s about thinking where our stuff comes from (finite resources) and where it goes when we’re done (often landfill) and what are the fantastic alternatives out there to extend the life of our ‘stuff’.

It’s easy. It’s fun. It’s moving from consumption-driven to community-driven.

It’s good for us, our wallets and our planet.

Hop on board! –

Too many people spend money they haven’t earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people they don’t like.

Flamingo love- A thing of beauty is a joy forever copy

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its lovliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep

Extract from Endymion, Keats

The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes. If you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it. Your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life.

Frank Lloyd Wright

Is there anything more beautiful than a beautiful, beautiful flamingo, flying across in front of a beautiful sunset? And he’s carrying a beautiful rose in his beak, and also he’s carrying a very beautiful painting with his feet. And also, you’re drunk.

Jack Handey
